Come to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and enjoy the beauty of the huge variety of plants the gardens contain.  One of the most beautiful is areas in this park that was built in 1910 is the Cherry Esplanade. This area is planted with 200 cherry trees which were received as a gift from Japan after World War II and which has a cherry blossom festival every spring.

In the Bluebell Wood there are over 45,000 bluebells planted under amateur stand of oak, birch and beech trees.  This is in full bloom in May so be sure to visit.

Another unique entity of the garden is the Celebrity Path where the stepping-stones are inscribed with names of famous Brooklyn residents of the past and present.  You will encounter such names as Walt Whitman and Barbara Streisand.

The Children’s Garden children ages 2 – 17 can plant their own crops and flowers and harvest them in the fall.  The younger children will combine craft making and creative play along with their plants.  Older children will get lessons in science and urban ecology along with their garden.

Daffodil Hill is filled iwth thousands of trumpet daffodils which turns the area into a beautiful yellow and gold blanket in late March and early April.  What a beautiful way to spend some time in the early spring!

Discovery Garden is a place for discovery and open ended exploration along with interactive activities.  Children area invited to touch and smell incredible plants and learn about the different habitats from woodland, meadow, farm, wetlands and a nature center with even more adventures just waiting for the kids to learn.  In this area children must be supervised by an adult.

You have the opportunity to go to the Fragrance Garden and exposing your senses to a wide variety of different sensations, from scented leaves to fragrant flowers and even kitchen herbs.

There are so many gardens and different experiences available at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden that you will not be able to see everything in one trip but it is a delightful place to visit over and over during different times of the year.
